Official statement
The Canary National Congress (CNC) greets the appointment of the 44 President of the United States,
Mr. Barak H. Obama
The Canary National Congress,
pro-independence political party of the Canary Islands and political arm of the
Canary Islands Independence Movement, the MPAIAC, greets the appointment of the 44 President of the United
States, Mr. Barak H. Obama, and wishes him successes
in its country and in the political and economic national reconstruction. We
are glad that a son of our African continent and representative of the Afro
Americans have been elect to president of the Unites States, making reality the
dream of the great Afro-American leader, Martin
Luther King, and followers that struggled to achieve the implantation of the civil law.
The CNC hopes that the foreign policy of the new president
is going to be based, on first and preferred place, in solving the problems of
Africa, the terrible crimes of Darfour, the permanent genocide of the populations
of the south of Sudan, the wars of the Congo and other wars. Also, we hopes
that you will help to solve the problems of famine, AIDS and other miseries,
arisen as a result of the colonial exploitation and traffic of slaves during
centuries which our continent was submitted. Africa
still suffers the European colonialism. They remain two colonies, Reunion Island,
in the hands of France, and
Canary Islands, in the hands of Spain.
The Canary Islands, our Mother Country, first and last colony of Spain, were
conquered in the Fifteenth Century and submitted to the traffic and sale of our
Guanche ancestors. The Canary People expects that the current government of the
USA forces to the French and Spaniard governments to finish in Africa with the
colonialism in this Decade, that finalizes in next year 2010, just as the
General Assembly of the United Nations decided it, (Resolution 43/47), ratified
by Resolution 48/52, to apply before this date the Declaration 15/14 (XV) of
1960 about the Right of Nations to self-determination.
The CNC congratulates the North American People for the support
that has shown to the new President, son and descendant of our eternal Africa.
Signed: Antonio Cubillo,
President of the Canary National Congress, political arm of the MPAIAC.
